» 1. The Weather   in Morocco

The weather in Morocco is mostly sub tropical, but not at the coast or in the mountains. There is a mild wind from the atlantic ocean all year. Warm clothes and rain protection are really needed here! In the inland it’s hot most of the time – between May and September it can get extremely hot and up to 40 degrees. These temperatures with the low humidity are strengthened by the desert wind „Schirokko“.

We were in Morocco in the end of April and it was a little cold in the evening – in Marrakech, in the region near Ait Ben Haddou and in the desert between Ouarzazate and Zagora you had to wear at least a light pullover. The days in the mountains at Jbel Toubkal were cold and wet. There was a lot of snow here as well. The maximum temperature was 18 degrees! During the day it can get very hot and dry (except in the mountains). Marrakech was really hot. And it was really unbearable in the Souks. So I recommend visiting in spring or after the extreme heat. Sightseeing and shopping isn’t fun at 40 degrees.

As already mentioned above, it always depends on the type of your trip. If you plan a beach holiday, you’ll pack different than an outdoor traveller. I can just tell you about my experiences, which is about the clothing guidelines in Morocco. That’s why I recommend packing the products, that I marked with a star.
