It’s not easy to describe my fascination right now. The area around Tirol and Salzburg is inspiring and unique. Everyone who already visited there know why it’s called “heart of the Alps”. The last few days, Manuel and I were on the go from Kitzbühel to Zillertal to St. Johann and Saalbach, Zell, Kaprun and so on. We were eating well, sleeping and hiking a lot. The natural scenery is so great with the grassy fields, crystal clear lakes, and mountains. You can relax well here.
Natural Spectacle: Green Lake
I already saw this lake on Pinterest, Instagram or TripAdvisor. I can’t believe it’s just two hours away from me. The green lake is a still water in Tragöß, Styria. It’s in the south of Hochschwab Group and it’s super popular for divers. The lake fills up with clear water when the ice in the mountains melt. Therefore, the water is ice cold.
Hiking to the water reservoir: The 140 Acre big and 186 Meter deep water reservoir Zillergründl
It’s been a long time since I’ve done any kind of sport. So, if you’re used to hiking, you might feel different. We started at Bärenbadalm (1,450 m) and hiked to Adlerblick (1,900 m) – that’s about 8-10km. After every step, I thought I had to give up. I really was wearing down, we even had to pause twice. When we arrived, I forgot everything. The view is vast and overwhelming. I was really proud when we arrived.
Where you have to stay longer: The Großglockner High Alpstreet
It’s the highest of Austria, the Großglockner (3.798 m) and its glaciers are huge. The road is 48 Kilometers long. While driving you can see grassy valleys,, forests, marmots, capricorns, rocks, mountains, and ice. With some luck, you may also see groundhogs, capricorns and cows.
Europe’s Biggest Waterfalls
Of course, we also had to see the Krimmler Waterfalls. They’re literally next to the Großglockner. The Krimmler Waterfalls are 380 Meters high. They are one of the most famous waterfalls, and also one of the highest. The rain is really refreshing beside the waterfalls. If you want to climb to the highest waterfall you need to walk about 1.15 hours or even longer.
I will gather a list of attractions that we have been visiting over the last few days. That’s why we were sleeping in several hotels or guesthouses as well. I also attached a maps with the regions we visited. We drove about 1,200km(damn!) You can find all information by clicking on the links.
So here you can find all the necessary information and websites of the attractions :) If you have any questions you can send me an email or write a comment down below
