Hi guys! I can’t believe it has already been 4 months since I was in Morocco. But I get a lot of E-Mails about Morocco and a packing list for Morocco seems to be popular, which is why I’ve written down what I packed into my bag. Your equipment varies depending on your time of travel, the type of travel (beach, trekking or sightseeing) and your destination. Also – most of the people think Morocco is always sunny and hot – but that’s not true! You can read about what you have to prepare for in this blogpost. If I forgot something, feel free to add it in the comments.
Packing list Morocco – Don’t forget these items!
» 1. The Weather in Morocco
The weather in Morocco is mostly sub tropical, but not at the coast or in the mountains. There is a mild wind from the atlantic ocean all year. Warm clothes and rain protection are really needed here! In the inland it’s hot most of the time – between May and September it can get extremely hot and up to 40 degrees. These temperatures with the low humidity are strengthened by the desert wind „Schirokko“.
We were in Morocco in the end of April and it was a little cold in the evening – in Marrakech, in the region near Ait Ben Haddou and in the desert between Ouarzazate and Zagora you had to wear at least a light pullover. The days in the mountains at Jbel Toubkal were cold and wet. There was a lot of snow here as well. The maximum temperature was 18 degrees! During the day it can get very hot and dry (except in the mountains). Marrakech was really hot. And it was really unbearable in the Souks. So I recommend visiting in spring or after the extreme heat. Sightseeing and shopping isn’t fun at 40 degrees.
» 2. My Packing list: Don’t forget these items!
As already mentioned above, it always depends on the type of your trip. If you plan a beach holiday, you’ll pack different than an outdoor traveller. I can just tell you about my experiences, which is about the clothing guidelines in Morocco. That’s why I recommend packing the products, that I marked with a star.
THE MOST IMPORTANT!
- Long clothes to visit religious places
Scarf for covering your head (for mosques)
Warmer clothes for chilly evenings
warm Pyjama
sun protection with high protection factor
Head covering!
Medicin against diarrhea, nausea and vomiting
an emptyhand luggage for Souvenirs
Being open minded because of the culture shock
Muslim Country ADAPT TO THE COUNTRY
Morocco is a tolerant, but muslim country. That’s why you need to stay back. Leave miniskirts, hotpants and croptops at home. Cover your shoulders and knees.

The following items were part of our 1 week Roadtrip through Morocco. We had one suitcase for both of us. Hand luggage alone wouldn’t be enough – because of the changing climate and the hiking we did at Jbel Toubkal. You also pack the normal travel items like underwear, cosmetics and electronics. But that’s self-evident. INFO: What’s interesting for bloggers is that drones are strictly forbidden in Morocco. Don’t bring your drone, because they’ll take it at the airport.
A big backpack for hiking in the mountains
Comfy sneakers for pebbly trails
Light Maxidresses
Comfy Sandals/Flip Flops or Ballerinas for Sightseeing
Fleecejacket or Raincoats or Pullover
Warmer Clothes for chilly evenings
Bikini or Bathing Suit for the Spa and Riad Pool
Dry Shampoo
A drinking bottle or two for on the go
Tissues or toilet paper for your car – just to be sure!
