I gathered 20 short Rome tips for you. I hope they are useful to you. Feel free to add more in the comments.
- Book entry tickets in advance, especially during high season.
- Look after your handbag! There are a lot of thieves.
- Wear comfy shoes – most of the streets are made of cobblestone which is not good when wearing high heels.
- Don’t forget sun protection.
- Don’t wear too revealing clothes. You won’t be able to visit the Vatican, Sistine Chapel or St. Peter’s Basilica
- When eating in a restaurant – try the house wine. They’re cheap and yummy.
- The St. Peter’s Square by night is awesome.
- The water from the drinking wells tastes good and is really clean so don’t be afraid.
- Get lost! You will find the coolest restaurants, bars and so on.
- Visit Volpetti to try the best cheese and sausage.
- Eat as much icecream as you can.
- Roam Rome by night – it’s beautiful.
- Have enough change with you to buy some icecream.
- The way to the hotel can be bumpy – beware with luggage.
- Only take things with you that you really need.
- Don’t wear expensive jewelry.
Get up as early as possible. It can get really hot in summer, so it’s good when you’re already on the go at 7am.
- If you’re travelling with a low budget airline, watch out! You can only take hand luggage.
- If you’re travelling with public transport, don’t let others help you with your luggage. They often want to rip you off.
- Use express trains. You can travel from Rome to Florence in 1,5h.
I hope you’re planning your next Italy trip now. Feel free to ask questions. I look forward to your comments.
