In the Thingvellir National Park you can see the American and Eurasian plates drift apart about 2cm each year. The earth’s surface looks extreme. You’re getting goose bumps when looking at them. It’s unique.

A bathing experience! So awesome! Hot springs with a temperature of 40-42°C. Indescribable. The water feels so good.

We didn’t have the time to book this activity, but we were able to take a look at them. I can only imagine how it feels. Did you know that an Iceland Horse can never come back to Iceland once it has left? The Icelandic Horses belong to the oldest purebred horse types of the world. These horses haven’t  been crossed with other types for over 1000 years.

I’ve told you in my northern lights post about the Aurora Borealis. It’s a phenomenon you can go hunt for. This experience in the sky is so great to observe.

Oh my god, this is one of the most beautiful places in Iceland. Looking at the icebergs is indescribable. I always have to think about the Titanic when I see it. You’re speechless when watching the ice and the seals. What can I say more – It’s indescribable!

Reykjavik is in the northwest of Iceland. Reykjavík means „smoking bay“ (Reykja=Smoke, Vík=Bay). That might come from the hot springs all around Reykjavik. This little city is quiet, relaxing and sweet.

As you can see there are a lot of things to see in Iceland. The moment when the geysir shoots water up to 50 meters into the air is really impressive. The time before it happens, you can barely breath, because it’s so exciting. You can smell the sulfur and the area is just unique.

I think I don’t have to say anything about this. It’s beautiful – being alone here. Indescribable – the nature of Iceland. The mountains look like they’re painted. This picture here says it all Flickr

If you’re driving around 4 hours in one direction and you think you’re on Mars, but you’re actually in Iceland. From grass-land with sheep and horses to volcanoes to geysers, to lava fields, waterfalls, rivers, glaciers and lagoons on only 4 hours driving. Why would you sleep in the car? There’s so much to see.
